Directorate for Criminal Law and Probation is an administrative organisation in the Ministry that performs administrative and professional tasks related to the following: creation of draft proposals, implementation of acts and other regulations from the criminal law domain, professional analysis of amnesty cases, tasks related to criminal and misdemeanour record, record of confirmed indictments and international data exchange from the records.
Directorate for Criminal Law and Probation performs administrative and professional tasks related to implementation of protective supervision and work for common good at free, probation tasks related to deciding on criminal prosecution, selection and enforcement of criminal-law sanctions and measures for criminal crime perpetrators of age, tasks related to imprisonment and supervision over conditionally released convicts, to fulfilment of obligations for persons to whom the criminal persecution is conditionally suspended, to exercising precautionary measures and pre-trial prison and it cooperates in organising assistance and support to victims. It also performs other tasks from its scope.

Scope of work of the Directorate for Criminal Law and Probation is stipulated by the Decree on Internal Organisation of the Ministry of Justice (OG 28/2012).
